There are many articles around the web on child safety and they usually have to do with making sure the sharp objects are not placed within reach in the kitchen. In the bathroom, it’s all about making sure the kids (and adults!) have non-slip pads above the tiles in the shower. Here, however are other practical tips to help prevent accidents from happening in the bath or kitchen
Teach your child how to fall properly
Your child will fall as soon as he or she learns to walk. So if he wanders into the kitchen (or any part of the home) and slips, there are proper ways to instruct your child to fall and not hit his head. There are many methods to this and parenting style is taken into account but the number one rule is to teach your child to fall on his behind (and not on his head or face).
You can practice this on the crib or on the bed and simulate your child’s falling down by repeatedly going through the motions of the fall but making sure that you assist your child so that he falls on his behind. Muscle memory will kick in at some point (and since kids absorb things very fast), you’ll be less accident prone at home in no time.

The sides of your counter can be sharp so it would actually be best to design your counter with no sharp edges.
Guard your cutlery
We have nothing against children being taught to use knives, scissors or other sharp objects but do learn to set them aside with a cooking guard which you place on the counter by the kitchen sink. Your child is very curious and will reach for things so also make sure that nothing sticks out from the island or door handles that are too within reach.

Lid locks on the toilet
It goes without saying that you should never leave your children unattended in the bathtub or shower when they’re young. Sometimes, your curious toddler may actually venture into the toilet and peer inside and accidentally slip. To avoid such accidents, you absolutely need to purchase a lid lock for your toilet, or have baby-friendly toilet lids which come in many different designs.
